  •  I'm waiting for the nex installment with bated (4.00)
breath. I'm an intensive care nurse & I have great training how not to freeze in dire medical emergencies but blizzards are a reality where I live. I guess I need some practical advice because I'm often alone with the kidswhen the power goes out or something like that. Great Diary!

As you run through each of the categories in the scenario above, do you have a plan for how you'll handle each?  For blizzards, you should have a short-term (24-hour) and long-term (7-day) plan for surviving loss of services.

Let me know what you're looking for and I'll do what I can to help.

Short term - I think I'm OK (not that I can't improve) but plenty of flashlights, candles, battery powered radio, fireplace- with a full cord of wood- plenty of blankets. Pretty well stocked pantry (but need to get more) gas stove, plenty of bottled water since the tap tastes funny because of the mineral content. I have a Jeep but a longer term plan such as 7 days without power that floors me. No clue- Help!!
