  •  Atlanta area has thousands (none)
but I'm not sure where the majority are staying though I've caught human interest stories on the local news about some being taken into specific homes, including a lady with an eight year old child who was arrested a coupla days ago for posing as an evacuee and going to stay with a woman volunteer.

I live in a small city 10 minutes south of Atlanta called East Point where about 200 people are being cared for under the guidence of Jane Gunter, director of Family Life Ministries @ 2810 Church St. 30344 404-761-6302.

FLM has been around a long time.  I did a bit of volunteer work there over a decade ago but didn't feel comfortable with their 700 Club type Christian attitudes.  Still they do good stuff. When I stopped by to bring some supplies I found out that a gay couple neighbors of mine were out scouting for appartments.  I thought perhaps I was witnessing a true miracle in this chance alliance of relief workers!

And speaking of conservative Christians, I've been watching the sorta creepy Daystar network(rival to the truly creepy Trinity Broadcasting Network) and they mention a lot of people being cared for at the World Bethany Prayer Center, Miss. I think.  If I recall correctly this is one of the more radical ministries represented on the network.  Last night I was watching Daystar and they were going on about this being the chance for the Church to show what they were and how they could be so much more effective than gov't and regular non-profits.  So what we could look forward to is something like the Islamic run religious schools and social services.  Oh boy.
One guy was almost gleeful about this being a chance to change the world to their view and the children of this generation yielding the new real leaders of tomorrow.  Scary thing is, they got a good chance of doing it.

"yes dear...conspiracy theories really do come true." (tuck, tuck)
