May or May not be the True Case!!

I'm not there but doing what I can from here.

But 'All' the Reports we are getting are saying that in Far Too Many Places FEMA Hasn't or Did Arrive and gave Empty Promises, Same with the Red Cross and I Might Add the National Guard! Most of these area's are Poor, not only Black but White and Hispanic!

Apparently the Red Cross people who did show up in Covington did so without Communications Equipment nor Generators thus having to use what 4 Vets in an Old Bus Had, Communications Via Satellite Internet and Generator for their Power Source as well, than using Computers, Generators etc. that were Donated to the 4 Vets in an Old Bus!

I 'Hope' you Do Very Well with your Heartfelt efforts, for it is the Volunteers that Make an Organization like the Red Cross Function despite the Leadership which went Political awhile back!! The Volunteers, as you might already know, Are A-Political!!

Your Help Will Be Greatly Appreciated!!
    Take Care!!

    •  Communications Equipment...a sore subject (none)
In my old chapter, one of the duties before going out on a fire call was to go through the box of ancient walkie-talkies and try to find at least 2 that worked. They were as big and heavy as bricks, but bricks get better reception.

As for generators, we'd have contracts with, say, Acme Equipment to supply a generator when needed for the town of Boro. Problem was, Acme had also promised the one generator to Northboro, Southboro, Eastboro, and Westboro, which generally had the same disaster conditions as Boro.

RC has very little of its own equipment; storage would be a problem, and the public doesn't like its money spent on useless stuff like that, as was made plain with the ill-advised Liberty Fund. I wish some communications company would donate spiffy systems to all the chapters, because that's the only way we'll get any.

Red Cross maintains an open-door policy; anyone is welcome to look at its books. I'd suggest waiting until the skeleton staff they maintain isn't working 24-7 so as not to further impede aid.

Donors objected to the Liberty Fund because they weren't told that is where their money was going -- all the ads were to donate to help the victims of 9/11, not 'future disasters.'
