  •  Oh.... (none)
And even LDCs are doing more. Brazil recently pulled all Govt. vehicles off Oil based fuel for Bio-fuel. They have a huge sugar cane crop capability, and are using to produce alcohol derivatives.
    •  Riiight (none)
All they have to do is chop down the rain forest to grow that sugar cane. Planted Using tractors using sugarcane biofuel grown from the previous rain forest they chopped down. ETC
      •  Guess what (none)
It isn't the responsibility of Latin America to make up for us. Yes the rain forest should be (mostly) left alone...but reasonable use is completely acceptable. They don't have to be the carbon trap for everyone else, while we get to blithely sprawl everywhere in the name of cheap big houses. Its up to us to return some of our land to forested and other natural states.
        •  Actually, they DO have to be the carbon trap (none)
The Amazon basin is so important and diverse that it impacts the environment across globe.

No excuse for our practices, either, but we MUST stop deforestation in the Amazon.

The people should fight for their laws as they would for their city wall.

I thought they'd been running gov't fleet on alcohol for 20-30 years. Sheesh.

In troubling times, it's good to read true stories about real people doing good things. HeroicStories, free
