You can be sure this gets spun in the wingnutosphere as, "Dems kill Katrina investigation commission - they don't wany anyone to find out how Nagin and Blanco screwed up!"
    •  And they'll insist "joint Senate-House" (none)
      means bipartisan.
    •  I'll be tough (none)
This is a huge victory for the dems.  The syndicate they were running between the executive and legislative branches is coming apart.

    •  Spin it back to them... (4.00)
by asking why they wouldn't trust an independent investigation to find out who's all at fault.

You can see it coming a mile away-- the RNC talking point almost writes itself: :

We tried to create a fair commission to investigate what went right and what went wrong in a bi-partisan, bi-cameral way; unfortunately the obstructionist Democrats used the tragedy to play partisan politics.

So, blocking the GOP's whitewaah is a good first step (and props to Reid and Pelosi) but they need to follow up with step two and apply the same vigor to making sure that an indedendent investigation goes forward. Otherwise we're giving them a way out and creating a political vulnerabilty for ourselves.

As long as the prerequisite for that shining Paradise is ignorance, bigotry, and hate... I say the Hell with it. --Inherit the Wind
