  •  Schwietzer is not liberal (none)
He chose a Republican running mate. He not only opposes gay marriage, he may have said he opposes civil unions. That would put him to the right of most people.

A liberal-progressive republican as his running mate, who was virtually drummed out of his party even before he signed on the ticket with Schweitzer. Lieutenant Governor Bohlinger is probably more liberal than Max Baucus, no lie.

Governor Brian Schweitzer on seeking the presidency; "I'm not half that smart and I'm none too pretty."

      •  He's still a Republican (none)
and it's just another reason why I tend to roll my eyes when anyone paints Schweitzer as the great liberal hero of the ages.
        •  Well (none)
I still support Schweitzer but have long ago given up on Baucus.

          •  Well, (none)
Schweitzer has been in office for less than a year. Baucus for 25 years. In an era when Republicans ran the Senate from 1981-1986 and from 1995-present, with a few years break in the middle. I'm sure that being in the minority for that long hasn't done Baucus much good either. Schweitzer has a lot of power and doesn't have to worry about gridlock. Hopefully he will do well and he can help the state stay in the hands of Democrats.
            •  Sorry I meant over 25 years. (none)
              •  Don't give up (none)
On Schweitzer just yet. I'll beat on him some more on several issues. He's one of those rare politicians that still listens.
