  •  Jeers to publicly funded sports stadiums (4.00)
and the legislators who dare to think Minnesotans want them.  The latest proposal comes from the Minnesota Vikings, who are "only" asking for $230 million from the state plus a 0.75% countywide sales tax (imposed without a public referendum).  This follows a proposal for a Twins stadium ($478 million, with a .15% countywide sales tax imposed without a referendum) and an on-campus stadium for the U of M Gophers ($235 million, with $7 million/year up to $94 million coming from the state). And oh yeah - they (stadium supporters) want the Gov. to call a special session to pass the necessary legislation, this after a special session that was needed just get the regular business of governing done.  Where the fu#@ are the leaders in this state?

Cheers, indeed to Mr. Murrow.  Murrow: His Life and Times, by A.M. Sperber (1986) is a really good biography, for those who care.

Tears and sadness to our friend Rosie who, with breaking heart, helped her Divine MMM cross over the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. MMM (a standard poodle) was far too young to go, but she suffered in the extreme from autoimmune disease that ultimately left her unable to move.  Good girl, MMM....

Jeers to life and love being so damned hard sometimes.

Cheers to C&J, etc., for reminding me there's always more to life than I think there is.

First they wanted indoor they want outdoor stadiums (see: Seattle, etc.)

10 years from now they'll be insisting on brand-new indoor stadiums.

If the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills can play outdoors, every football team should be mandated to play outdoors.  Just like God intended it!

      •  got that right! (4.00)
my mother (79yrs old) and my aunt (77yrs old) go to as many Bills home games as they can.  They love it when the Bills players come out in short sleeves as an "Up Yours" to teams from warmer climes (you hear us, Dallas?!!) who are bundled up like they're playing in Nome.   Ps. any one want some Flutie Flakes??
