    Hey, zergle ~

We're neighbors!  I'm in Binglewood, Spring Branch area.  My husband & I (and our 6 pets) are riding it out too.

We bought our house about 9 months ago, and were told that Allison didn't flood our street.  I'm hoping that trend will continue.  I think we're most nervous about the winds, with all the big old trees around us.

I remember Alicia.  She was in 1983, and delayed my first day of high school.  We rode it out, but then headed to relatives in Beaumont a couple days later when we couldn't stand the extended power outage in Houston heat & humidity.

    Please stay safe!

You're right up the road!  I've been in this neighborhood (Kempwood North) since a year or two before Allison.  We only got about 30 minutes of street flooding and it drained VERY quickly. I expect the same here. Winds are what I'm concerned about right now. Are you guys boarding your windows?  It seems most near us aren't.

.. is where we are and yes, we're boarding up as much a sposisble -- but SO hard to find plywood. The contractor across the street promised us some tomorrow so we're hoping to get that done and then depending on the situation when we're done, we may head north to Champions Forest to stay with the in laws.  Like you -- winds are what we're most concerned about.

Spring Branch is a sizable area, but we are closer neighbors than I realized!  Big city, small world.

No, we aren't boarding our windows.  Plywood was pretty scarce, pretty quickly.  And we have such small cars, couldn't figure out how to manage it.  I really don't see much activity - leaving or boarding up - going on in Binglewood right now.

Good to hear what you report about Allison in this area..... but, yipes, this Rita seems to be going way beyond anything we've yet experienced.  I'm getty jumpy.
