    I'd have said "oh, come on, the people who work at BSL4 facilities KNOW exactly how bad it could be if they broke containment, I'm sure they have a plan for what to do in emergencies".

    Now, watching FEMA spend days trying to find its ass in the dark with both hands and a flashlight, I'm wondering "hey, have the same kind of stupid crony appointments been made at CDC, so now there's some kind of stupid-ass bureaucratic oversight of the BSL4s that will maybe try to prevent those scientists from doing what they'd need to do to stop anything from getting out after a breach?"

    When push comes to shove though, I still trust scientists, because scientists (disclaimer:  I am one) are the sort to say "fuck bureaucracy, if we don't implement our disaster plan NOW we're screwed".  Better to be alive to ask forgiveness, than wait for permission.
