From what I've been hearing about the complaints about the march it's classic leftist in-fighting. The bougies vs the revolutionaries. The bougies make fun of and get pissed at the revolutionaries for being outlandish and over the top and ideologically distasteful. The revos make fun of and get pissed at the bougies for being bougie. Each side acuses the other of lying and cheating and hijacking and generally fucking everything up. (Yaaawn...oh excuse me, but after a hundred and fifty years of the same old story I get bored some times.)  You  never see the righties get pissy and self-righteous when Nazis or Neo-confederates or Christo-fascist Theocrats show up at their meetings or rallies. Instead they say thanks for coming and please make a donation. That's why they win and we lose.

...besides the "bougies" and the revolutionaries in this. The radical social-democrats. We fall somewhere inbetween those who say a protest march should comprise only participants wearing proper attire and only speakers who are veterans, war widows or ex-generals, on the one hand, and those who want to include every cause from Iraq policy to the Kitchen Sink Liberation movement.

Part of the problem at the moment is that our protests aren't big enough. Some blame A.N.S.W.E.R. for that, saying they keep middle America from coming (even while arguing that most people didn't know A.N.S.W.E.R. was going to be running things.

The answer, no caps, is to be found in diverse organizing of the antiwar movement, most of it local and regional. Once we get away from the notion that big protest marches are the way to policy change, we'll make a lot more progress - and, not coincidentally, those protest marches will get a lot bigger and A.N.S.W.E.R.'s role will get a lot smaller.
