    In a way I hope not: Republicans allow an indicted criminal to lead them! Delicious.

      But the Republicans make their own rules for Party Leadership positions.  I suppose that means they can break them too.  My guess is whoever wins has a nice bump for the 2008 election.

      because, at least in theory, the Republican caucus has a rule that says that anyone under indictment is ineligble for a leadership position.

      My guess is that he'll stay, screaming "Politically motivated witch hunt" at the top of his voice. Which, as you say, is fine. 'Indicted House Majority Leader' is a wonderful title...
