georgia10 is offering the way forward, even if she doesn't see it. We make Miers' nomination about the Bush scandals. If folks vote to confirm, then the public knows it's a vote to validate those scandals, to look the other way.

But the fact that Reid and others are praising her...yeah. This party's over. For them to have been so unprepared or stupid as to praise the nominee instead of saying "well it's too early, we have to do our job as the senate, we'll be careful and thorough" is just beyond the pale.

If the Dems don't stand and fight this, then I think it's time to quote the Beatles:

"I don't wanna spoil the party so I'll go
I would hate my disappointment to show
    There's nothing for me here
    So I'll just disappear"

It ain't over until it's over.

georgia10 definitely lit the path.  It's up to us to make sure that every single Dem Senator is on it.  Heck, send it to anyone you think is a moderate Repub or is in a blue-leaning state and up for reelection, too.

Create a list of questions you have about Miers as a nominee, focusing not only on lack of qualifications and cronyism, but on her relationship to the White House.  For example:

Is this a conflict of interest, to have someone that's personally represented the White House in the SCOTUS?

What happens if a case against the seated president came before SCOTUS while Miers was on the bench?

What about the failure of Miers to guide the White House away from violations of the Geneva Convention?

Did she provide counsel on buying propaganda from government agencies?  Shouldn't this have been something she was aware of and counseled?

This list goes on and on.  What a field day!!!  The trick is not to get bitter, the trick is to get active and do something productive about this.
