    Thanks again for the excellant info. In using this as a guide to make preparations, I came up with this thought. What about frozen water? How long can it be stored? If I were to take a chest freezer and fill it, allowing for expansion, would this be worthwhile? It would take energy to get it frozen, but once frozen it would likely not run that often. Any thoughts on this?

      Interesting idea.  Not super practical, but interesting.

      Water will stay good for a long time if kept frozen, as far as I know.  If you wanted to go this route, you might consider buying block ice to load the freezer.  I'd seal it into zip-lock bags or vacuum-seal bags before storing it.
