  •  Monster storm/blizzard prep (none)
    hang quilts or heavy blankets over stairwells /hallways to limit drafts & keep warmth in one or two rooms until your heat is secure.  My mom did that during the '77 Buffalo [NY] Blizzard, and it helped quite a bit.  Tension rods & inexpensive insulated curtains go up quickly and make a big difference in heat retention, esp. in older houses.
