  •  I highly doubt she's moderate on social issues. (none)
She's a RECENT born-again evangelical christian.  As evidenced in several of the posts here, that changed her views towards choice and gays.

We need to stop looking at her far past and look more towards her recent history.

And I would also really like to not see the word Souter again.  It ain't gonna happen.  Wishing never got us anything.

Something smells fishy with this nomination.

But, I guess I agree, there's not much we can do about it.  The Democratic response today, though, could have been much better.  Uncoordinated lot they are.

    •  She is no more (none)
a born again christian then Bush is.

The Social Conservatives have been being used the entire time.Only today they did they learn of it.

    •  born again isn't fundamentalist (4.00)
i would like for y'all to provide more information than repeating that she is born again therefore a wingnut. that's not true even as a general rule
    •  If she really is a Bush crony, (none)
and if she really admires the guy, then she is probably no more of an ideologue than he is. He doesn't surround himself with true believers. He uses the crusaders to get into power, but he then surrounds himself with sneaks and schemers and mediocrities just like him.

professed born again.  An ambitious one who knows who has been buttering her bread.  Doesn't necessarily mean squat once she's on the court.

I'm struck, by the way, how she said that her church reflected her personal opinion.  Hey, Kerry said he was personally against abortion; that means nothing definitive either regarding how she'll vote on Roe/Casey.

"If you [just] wanted to reduce ignorance, you could ... abort every Republican baby in this country, and your ignorance rate would go down."
