    Personally, I think Miers in that position is the theoretical equivalent of a wildcard - we don't really know for sure yet where she's going to come down on sensitive issues.

    From a less idealistic perspective, she's a crony all the way.  She may well give the right answers to the hearing panel, but when she sits down on the bench she'll be a nightmare walking.

    Unfortunately, there's nobody better - and Dubya won't willingly choose anyone who won't toe the Neocon line, anyway.

    ::shakes head::  Two at once, or thereabouts, one of them the Big Seat.  Is it possible that Justice O'Connor may have been "persuaded" to retire early?
