  •  Sherlock, whom I love more than life itself. . . (none)
    a couple of questions:

    1. If Bush is indicted could you walk us through, real slowly what we can expect to see.

    2. If Bush and Cheney are ndicted, then what?

    3. Could you lay out for us, sweet person, what you believe the indictments will be.

Please be conservative, what I mena is, we're all already in a state of extreme excitement, if you really think Bushie is going down, tell us, but don't give us the full monty if we're only going to be disappointed.

Okay, Sherlock, I'm waiting and hoping.

Apparently there are some pretty serious questions about what happens if the president or vp are indicted while sitting.
    •  There are a few ways it could go if (4.00)
Bush and Cheney are named as indicted co-conspirators.

      • If Tenet and Pavitt gave a full Damage Assessment of the deaths associated with the unmasking of Brewster Jennings Associates, then the Republican Party will have to distance itself from them as being modern near-Benedict Arnolds.  They would be told by the Senators they would both be impeached and convicted, removed from office.  Cheney would resign first then a compliant VP is approved, then Bush resigns and the new President, who has no intention of running in 2008, pardons the whole lot.  The trick for the President is resigning BEFORE he is convicted by the Senate as the Pardon cannot be used "in cases of impeachement".

      • If they are named but just as part of a conspiracy to take revenge on Wilson, the Republicans and Bush and Cheney may decide to tough it out and defend themselves to the end.

If they tough it out, the elections of 2006 would become a referendum on Bush and Cheney.  Vote the Democrats in and impeach them for a conspiracy that ended up leaking a CIA agent's name and the breaking of the law by the President himself.  If the Democrats are swept into both the House and the Senate, Bush could be impeached before 2007 is out.

If the Republicans maintain control of the Congress, Bush could also pardon everyone and the whole issue would roll over to the 2008 elections as a referendum on the entire Republican ticket.

Since we know the outing of Brewster Jennings must have had real repercussions in the spy world and likely many murders of CIA "assets" (informants), I believe the first scenario is actually the most likely.

I can't see McCain, Specter, Grassley or even Trent Lott and Shelby supporting Bush if Tenet's full Damage Assessment lists dead agents and assets.
