Kossacks may see the glass as half full, but the NY Times is getting exactly what they wanted. I actually bit the bullet and subscribed, but I just had to get my weekly fix of Krugman. I am planning to get out-treatment help for my addiction.

Anyway, the NY Times weren't trying to increase reader revenue. The goal was to reduce the heat they take from the Right. And cutting off their columnists influence will do the trick. This might seem crazy in terms of readers, but the advertisers pay the bills. And if they are happier, then the NY Times is happier. Face it folks, the "NY Times just isn't that into you".
