  •  I do see writing as worth something (none)
I spend many dollars ever year on books and newspapers so that I can support authors and enjoy their work.  I am probably one of the most appreciative of writing people on the planet. But I'm damned if I'm going to pay for opinions.  I can get opinions for free all over the place.  I like Krugman, and like that he has good ideas, but I think that, if anything, the editorial section should be free and the NEWS should cost money.  If I had my druthers, I'd set up a system at NYT where people could set up an account and remove a small amount (about 25-50 cents or so per article) every time a story was read.  People could get teasers for free, but they would have to pay for content. This thread is not about paper content, though, it's about editorial content, which I am not willing to pay for.

Now, please stop looking at the world through your filtered glasses and start asking questions instead of accusing people of thinking certain ways.  Whatever kind of writing you partake in, it will be better if you learn to find out what is going on in people's minds before you jump to conclusions.
