    Man, did the press secretary sweat!  "That is inoperative...at this point in time."  

     If every administration that is elected had to watch the full Watergate hearings at the beginning of their term in office, take notes, write a paper and take a test on it,  maybe we'd have less Watergate-like behavior.

      SOME of them would probably treat it, as they do with all our other classic warnings, as a user manual. The notes would look something like this:

      "Hmm, this guy had some good electoral strategies... I'll have to look into them in another four years.

      Nice handling of the press.

      Damned partisan witch-hunts against the Holy Blessed Executive Branch!

      Hmm, note to self: do not record conversations.

      Note to self 2: make sure the next President pardons everyone involved so they won't squeal"
