    According to the founding document of this nation, governments are instituted to secure the inalienable rights of all humans, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  The Constitution sets up the structure and rules by which this securing is to take place.  (The MA Constitution is even more explicit about securing exactly these rights.)  We can argue the arcane language of relationships between the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, but, it seems to me that this core relationship is central to any discussion.

    Same-sex marriage, and gay rights in general, is unquestionable about these very rights. This movement has been in pursuit of the right of our liberty, for us to pursue happiness and meaning in our lives.  To live freely.  It really is that simple.
