  •  I knew there was a reason... (none)
...why I've never wanted to visit Utah.
    •  I hear Salt Lake City is quite nice (none)
Never been there. But they do have a Democratic mayor.
    •  actually, (none)
there are parts of the state that are very beautiful.

Kossacks: a large population of Medieval exegetes who each day grapple with the fabulistic opportunities of the early third milennium.

    •  Utah (none)
Went there this summer with my husband who attended a physics conference at UU. It was near or at the bottom of any place to vacation I would consciously choose, but it was one of the most beautifully surreal sites that I have ever seen. What a pleasant surprise. If you EVER have the opportunity, go..., it is worth it!! Best vacation ever. Seems unfair the Repugs have that beautiful state!

The Stepford Mormons were a little strange, though, but living 30 miles from Palmyra NY, I was used to it.

My fantasy - Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld tried for war crimes

    •  Mormon Mafia in the Defense Industry (none)
For those of us who have worked in the defense industry... we know about the disproportionately high number of Mormons who work in it. They're affectionately known as the "Mormon Mafia" and right now they are all fully employed and making money hand over fist.

So it's no surprise that Utah loves them military industrial complex neocons in the White House and the 450 Billion dollar military budget (and that's only the part that they are willing to tell you about!).

    •  Worth a visit. (none)
Actually SLC is worth a visit and has a spectacular location.  The Wasatch mountains are really closeby and offer a lot for anyone into outdoor adventures.  You'd be surprised at the number of liberals out there.  They're just very discrete and good at leading a double life.  Yes, they were raised Mormon too - at least the ones I know.
