    NREL has good wind maps, and has likely done the anemometer studies, though you should always get your own anemometer and plant it for a year to get good data.

    Wind power is a profit-making enterprise for farmers, and is hugely popular with farmers out west for this very reason. USDA will also have good links on their wind program, would include them here but they're on my office machine and I'm feeling kinda lazy ...
