They were weak, and the Republicans ate 'em!

Seriously though I would have liked to have seen this bill pass, but 'bi-partisan' history reminds us that if any dems join in, republicans will target them for removal.

I've reached an age now where it doesn't matter whatever happens to me. I just don't want anybody to die before their time anymore. - Bill Clinton

I think if we voted for it then the only pork being cut would be in dem states! If it was both sides presenting this bill ,united in what to cut,I would be on the phone right now to my Dem Senator!

So you're saying you think it was OK for the Dems to vote for the Don Young Way and the Road to Nowhere? Because as far as I know Young, Stevens, and Murkowski are all Republicans, and Alaska voted for Bush 60-40. Any Dem who voted against the Coburn amendment is simply a coward who fears Stevens' wrath. Think of who that includes, people who have no fear whatsoever of not being re-elected, people who will not even run for re-election: Kennedy, Biden (a yes vote would actually help him in his ill-advised prez run), Lieberman, Feinstein, Boxer (no election for 6 years), Harkin (won't run again), Clinton (leading by 30+ points in the polls), Obama (!). Wtf?

Kos is 100% right on this one. The Democratic party just pissed away all its credibility on fiscal responsibility for a half billion dollars worth of worthless bridges in a Republican state. This ranks right up there with the stupidest political moves of all time. And yes, also as kos says, Feingold '08.

I guess I am untrusting of a repub Senate doing the right thing. We shouldve bought ads with the bridge to nowhere on it and slapped them down before the bill passed.I sick of the dems sitting back and letting this crap go through then complaining about it after. If we want to win we should stop thse things first. And I dint read the amendment so after I do that I would probably agree, but jeez Coburn is such a tool!!!
