  •  Novak.. (none)
    has contradicted himself.

    He said this:

Novak said a confidential source at the CIA told him Plame was "an analyst, not a spy, not a covert operative and not in charge of undercover operatives."

    And he said this:

Novak said Monday on CNN's "Crossfire" that he learned Plame's identity from two senior Bush administration officials in the course of researching an article about Wilson. He denied that anyone in the administration called him to leak the information.

    But, he also said this:

Novak, in an interview, said his sources had come to him with the information. "I didn't dig it out, it was given to me," he said. "They thought it was significant, they gave me the name and I used it."

When Novak said that leaking her identity and name to him wasn't a "planned leak", it's possible he believed it - his inflated ego probably made it quite easy for him to believe they only gave it to him.

And, at first I thought, this meant they gave him her name, but it doesn't necessarily:

They asked me not to use her name, but never indicated it would endanger her or anybody else.

I believe the "confidential source at the CIA" is Fred Fleitz,  who worked for Bolton at State but also continued to work at the CIA.
