  •  Right, this won't heal the Right-split (4.00)
any time soon.  The damage has been done.  Dobson looks like an ass (although it would have been nice to see him under oath).  Everyone on the Right was forced to show their true colors to each other.  The next nominee will be MUCH more closely scrutinized by BOTH sides of the aisle.

    Bush fucked himself, but good.

    •  that depends on who he nominates NEXT... (none)
as to whether the 'right-split' will be healed or not...... I just saw Bay Buchanan on the situation room saying "we are conservatives, he listened to his base, and realized he needs his base to be represented with his nomination, we have the house, we have the senate, what is he afraid of?"  She ALSO SAID : "if he nominates someone now that his 'base' is satisfied with, I think we'll all get back behind him"....

so if THAT doesn't at LEAST make you think that this is a PERFECT opportunity for Bush to RECOVER a little bit with his 'base' and in the polls I don't know what will......

The nominee will be scrutinized you're right, but what will the dems REALLY be able to do about it if he nominates an ideologue?  He'll have overwhelming support from the republicans, who'll spin this as 'he's listening to us, lets embrace him for doing so'....

am I the only one here who thinks this is pretty much NOT a good thing for the democrats??  All this 'weakness'-claiming that the left blogosphere is doing right now..... its fine and dandy as a 'talking point'.. but TRULY, I don't think this is necc. GOOD news......

        •  As my posts from below (none)
          show I'm with you.

What did CNN quote Armando as saying?  What was the spin on Armando's comment?

          •  it was one of those 'blogger reporters'... (none)
lol.... keeping their 'eyes on the blogs'...

but yeah, she had dailykos up on her screen and read aloud the title to this post... saying "the left blogosphere is calling the Miers step down a sign of weakness on the part of the President, Armando at dailykos mentions this here in a a post entitled......" then she goes on to mention what the other bloggers on the left are saying... as well as what some on the right are saying...

the fact is, I respect Armando like crazy, I respect this site like crazy, but this 'stance' that the left is taking that this is a 'weakness; here's why, because others on the right have mentioned it would be a weak thing to do' etc etc... just seems like a TALKING POINT...

sigh.... I think this is BAD NEWS.... kind of awful news really, considering that Bush has now uncharacteristically backed down from a decision, which means he's in a corner (which I know was Armando's point) but MY point is, he's going to lash out like a cornered cat methinks....... he's pissed that his whole world is pissed/upset with him, so he's going to take it out on the dems...

if I had a mustache; I would bet people here, and say I'd shave it off if this next nominee isn't going to be a right-winged lunatic conservative.... sigh...but I don't.. so Il guess this will be my best attempt to garner attention to a 'voice of caution' approach on this whole issue....
