  •  The GJ term was expiring (4.00)
And Fitz was under pressure to produce something after two years. But, over the past 6 months and in spite of Libby's obstruction to the probe, A LOT has happened: Miller went to jail and later testified, there is an Italian link that needs to be looked into, and minor players are flipping. Fitz does not want to show his hand until he is done analyzing all that he has and did not want to reveal the scope of the investigation. He would rather have Rove squirm under the suspense, and have Cheney and Bush, if they are implicated, think that they are home-free. Well, that is my take on it all.

    •  I wholeheartedly agree with you (4.00)
I think and have been saying for a while that, regardless of what happens(ed) intially, this is just the first step out of many to get to the bottom of how we got into Iraq and the lies that sold it.

And the consequences to anyone who dare spoke the truth or called bullshit.

This whole thing fascinates me and I think this is merely the tip of a very nasty iceberg.

      •  Fitz did address the speculation (4.00)
that he is looking into the build-up to the Iraq war etc., but, as I recall, he explicitly said this was about blowing the cover of a CIA agent, not about anything else.

        •  Thats what the 2006 Congress will do. (4.00)
Or at least, that is how I read Frank Rich's excellent piece.  The future depends on holding the Congress responsible for the run up to war too- vote out those who conspired and moved to the middle.  Vote in those who will investigate this mess.

          •  Senate Foreign Relations Committee (none)
is still holding hearing on the pre war intelligence according to Arlen Specter on CNN.

I was/am completely unaware of that. Who's following it?

traveling to the White House to ask bush to resign.  I can almost see it.  Take one for the party, George- Dick did.

    •  I Don't Know That (none)
      Fitz wants "Rove to squirm".

the problem here is these assholes have a way of getting away with their high crimes and misdemeanors; they can afford the best lawyers.

61 federal indictments of various reagan administration officials-- and YET some of those very same criminals are in fact working in the bush administration right now-- Poindexter is a prime example.

clearly Fitz has to get all the ammo he can if he's going to go after bush's brain and the other guy pulling the strings-- cheney.
