  •  Hm (3.33)
Having lost most hope and accepted Kerry as our nominee, I'm more excited about the Kentucky 6th special election.

Kos, you have a lot of influence, and I hate to see you playing to the "screw Kerry" crowd.  We have an election to win this fall, and we can.

That should be reason enough for hope.

hes more excited about the special election than the wisconsin primary---- which seems preordained.

Maybe he can have an opinion of his own

    •  With all due respect... (none)
Kerry is completely old guard.  He doesn't care about the internet or the internet movement.  He's really just one of the congressional dems everyone has been complaining about for years...

Even ignoring all his faults, there's no reason for anyone to be especially excited over him.  That doesn't mean you can't support him, but don't try to pretend he's something special.

Bill Clinton wasn't elected because he's a moderate, he won because he's a leader. John Kerry isn't.

        •  Gore far worse than Kerry (none)
but true they are both "old school" Senators.

I suspect Kerry will be a better candidate than Gore was, but that's not saying much.

And its important to remember that even if Kerry himself is "old school" this particular election is not; so while he may not fully embrace all the new that folks here might want, he can not avoid to deal with and incorporate some of it.  That alone, will change him/the campaign.

No one is outside of history, not even a rusty old Senate Democrat.

Maybe not, but we know Gore did beat Bush. So a better candidate should be able to win by a more secure margin.

Oh, if only it were that simple . . .
