  •  Thank you to all (4.00)
For working hard and staying true to our principles, we will overcome the (diminishing) Republican majority.

And of course thank you to Howard Dean. A shining example from the day he came on the national stage.

      > And of course thank you to Howard Dean

Before Dean became DNC chair, pundits were declaring (gloating?) that the Democrats would become a regional party. However, Dean insisted on a 50-state strategy. And it's becoming clear that it's working.

Once again, Dr. Dean has done an amazing job.

      •  Does Dean really deserve that much credit? (none)
The smell of corruption that even the MSM can no longer ignore, the war,the economic cleansing of the old,the sick, the disabled and the working poor,to name just a few reasons for a backlash...Giving Dean and the so called Dem braintrust that much credit at this point is a little like giving Ronald Regan credit for the collapse of the Soviet Union...
        •  Yep (none)
He has been talking 50 state strategy for years.  Also the "contest every race" strategy.  We needed to make sure that there were Dem candidates running so that when this opportunity arrived we were ready.  It's shocking to me how many races were just given away because "it's a Republican district".  I'm inclined to believe that we won some races in which we otherwise would not even have fielded a candidate.  (Honesty disclaimer:  this is a belief and I have no specific race in mind.)  But he actually had me considering running even though I'm already over-committed.

I don't think anyone is saying that Dean did this singlehandedly.  But with his encouragement and nurturing to candidates of "unimportant" races and his outspokenness as an official of the Opposition, he has lots to do with this success.

The chips are down. Find your outrage.

        •  Yes Dean deserves credit (none)
          Dean's message:
Organize locally, contest every race, emphasize Democratic Party values.

Those priciples won a lot of races that would not have been won with the old DNC strategy.

          He gets lots of credit.

        •  Remember, Dean did DFA 2.0 long before (none)
he ran for DNC chair - Many of the Philly suburb local campaigns had substantial local DFA group support - I'm on most of the local newsgroup lists - lots of DFA member posts with results today...

          Democracy is a contact sport...
