  •  Pardon this analogy, but (none)
I think that people give the president a LOT of leeway when it comes to foreign relations (diplomacy, wars) and it showed with IRAQ, even though they have had doubts (cracks) in this trust.

I think Katrina actually has had a "freezing water" effect. People are much more comfortable making judgements about domestic issues - and the fact the BUSH and company didn't respond quickly, and then continued to bungle things was like flood waters going to the "cracks", freezing, and then widening these doubts.

And with the IRAQ lies being finally reported in the MSM, there has been no time for these "cracks" in Bush's approval rating to be healed, covered up, smoothed over and/or forgotten. They are still visible and are growing even more visible. And the more visible they are, the more comfortable people will be in acknowledging their doubts.

The sad thing is that there are people who now regret voting for him in 2004. And they are going to have to live with this as things continue to worsen in Iraq and in the US.

"Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph." (T. Paine)
