  •  HOw lovely that Romney was cited by the NY Times (none)
Yesterday as an example of a popular centrist Republican governor as something of a counterpoint to their article about centrist Dem governors in the midwest, south, and west who were eschewing central dems like Howard Dean.  I immediately wondered `Why will they give Schweitzer's approval rating in Montana but not Romney's if he is so great?'
    •  Because... (none)
he's not a centrist Republican. He sold a a lot of Mass residents who weren't paying enough attention a bill of goods, and then pulled a Bush by moving further and further to the right. However, for the most part the legislature has stymied him, and the residents of Mass have opened their eyes and seen what a dickhead he is.

      •  popular Gov? (none)
Who has had his vetoes overridden easily! Who endorsed and actually supported with money and campaigning Republican canidates and the republicans Lost seats (what few they had).
    •  Not all southern states have democratic (none)
Governors I am sorry to say. My state of Georgia has Sonny Perdue, the first Republican  Governor of Georgia, and a real loser imo. Mississippi has Hailey Barbour(R). I have heard rumors of Hailey Barbour running for POTUS. Yikes to that.

Of course if you count Florida as a southern state, which I do not, there is always Jeb-boy Bush. He could be annoited or selected in '08. That would be convienent since Jeb could control counting the Florida votes again.
