    The NDP hasn't used its balance of power effectively and in minority elections like this, the party holding the balance of power tends to lose votes.  But I don't see Harper picking up enough seats to get a minority so "Groundhog Day" it is.

    Trudeau had one of these types of elections with Steven Lewis holding the balance in 1974 and NDP was crunched.

    Martin must be pretty cocky about the result since he didn't live up to his campaign promise to prorogue the house after the report was released.  He must have looked at his "Texas hold 'em" cards and decided that a bluff on the big blind might take the pot.

      You mean David Lewis -- Stephen Lewis, his son, was only in provincial politics (and later UN ambassador and AIDS special envoy).
