  •  But remember it was Edmonton (4.00)
aka "Redmonton" - the only place in Alberta that sent an NDP MP to the House of Commons.

The town has always had a socialist streak to it (attributed by some historians to the central & Eastern European immigrants (Polish, Ukranian, Russian)) that came there rather than the American oilmen that flooded up to Calgary.

They did a few progressive things in their past - 1st female city police officer in the British Empire, telephone service owned by the city till the mid 90s, utilities still owned by the city, and the largest fringe theatre event outside of Edinburgh.

And besides, their football team is publicly owned (kinda like the GB Packers - same colours even) - that's hardly something Harper could like.

Besides that, there's the fact that Harper's from Calgary.

"now this is not the end, it is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." W. Churchill
