  •  One thing nobody talks about is ... (none)
what is the composition of the supposed "Iraqi Army" ? Is it all shiite+kurd ? Can we ever have local sunni policemen / army in the sunny areas to control the insurgents ?

If the army is just shiite+kurd the place will become a shiite/kurd dictatorship, just like we had a Sunni dictatorship earlier.

I see no way in which we can have a peaceful, unified Iraq in the next decade or so.

BTW, whats Dean's position on Iraq now ?

is that there is still a problem with Al-Qaeda beyond the Iraq issue.  If the Dems can't talk national security in a serious way, they'll lose.  Kerry was absolutely right that Iraq was a diversion away from the real threat that had to be confronted.  Framing the foreign policy debate in terms of "withdraw immediately' or "withdraw later" is much too narrow and plays into Republican hands.  The bigger question is what is the U.S. going to do now that Bush has made a total mess in the Muslim world....

If you really want to get rid off AlQueda you need to solve the palestine problem.

Who in the democratic party has the guts to take on Israel ?
