    •  When do the meetups start? (none)
      •  I like Clark as well... (none)
I'd support either. Kerry is a fine guy, but he simply can't articulate himself. That's a big reason why his candidacy failed. He would have made a fine president, I'm sure, but he just wasn't a good candidate. Unfortunately, it's difficult to win an election if you're not a good candidate.
        •  I like Clark too... (none)
...but I'd rather have him as the anti-Rumsfeld in charge of the Pentagon.

Feingold for President! I'll be sorry to lose him as my senator, but thrilled to have him as president.

          •  I think that Clark is ineligible (none)
If I recall correctly, the Defense Secretary has to have been out of the military for at least 10 years; the reason is to put "civilian control of the military" on a firmer basis.  But he could have the State Department, NSC, or anything else.
    •  I'd love to see a President Feingold (none)
but no Senator, former or sitting, has won a presidential election since 1964. That's eleven election cycles. And it's not a coincidence that senatorial failures arrived with the television age -- they're simply not capable of connecting with people in the immediate, direct manner required of a candidate.

I hope I'm wrong about Russ, but I don't think I am. He's not going to be president come Jan 2009.

      •  Russ is a trowback (none)
in the sense of your "they're simply not capable of connecting with people in the immediate, direct manner required of a candidate."

        •  I hope so (none)
I lived in Middleton WI when Russ was first elected in 1992. He was actually standing in front of my polling place on Election Day, shaking hands and looking confident. I still remember the magic he conjured with his unorthodox TV ads, the very ads that catapulted him into office.

I still don't think he would win in 2008, BUT ... if any sitting senator could win, it would be Russ, hands down.
