  •  It took us only 6 years (none)

    Let's see:

The Continental Army came into existence in 1775, yet America chose allies wisely and kicked the British occupiers out in 1781.  We also fought the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War, the Civil War, World War I and World War II on the fly, building an army as we went;  less than ten years separated having Armed Forces and victories.

That said, do you think for a minute that Iran would not rush to the aid of a Shi'a Iraq, especially with a few signals from Washington that it would look the other way?  The neighboring Sunni armies are hardly models of military might -- they tend to get flustered whenever people shoot back at them.

    •  Then Iraq... (none)
will have to turn to conscription and press-ganging to supply their "new model" army...all the while the death squads will be creating more "rejectionist" reactionaries, keeping their numbers in an operationally numerical ratio to the police forces of "official" Iraq.

      It's a numbers game, folks...untenable and unwinnable.
