    ...Once upon a time, Daschle would've been Herseth's biggest asset. It now looks like the opposite may be true.

    Not the opposite, but the converse.  There is a big difference between the two.

    •  "Converse" is more charitable... (none)
      "Opposite" implies that Daschle's visibility would harm Herseth's election bid where it might have previously helped.  Despite his recent poor performance (in the SOTU rebuttal and opposing the GOP in general), I doubt this is the case.  "Converse" indicates that Herseth is now the one improving Daschle's reelection changes.
