  •  thanks, I sort of got that. I was wondering if (none)
you'd feel bad making the mistake in the opposite direction.  AND I was wondering because guys can actually get insulted by being assumed to be a women, but fewer women, I suspect, would think it insulting to be thought to write in a male style.

Which arguably tells us something about the relative values placed on men and women.

    •  The user (none)
had a gender-neutral screen name, but I assumed them to be female based on a few comments; turned out to a gay male.  Same person thought I was gay merely because I had an "SF" on my name.

      •  I'd be sad if you thought being that to (none)
be gay was embarrassing, etc.  But, hey, I'd certainly understand.

When my son told us he is gay, I think my first thought was, O great.  Damn near half the country thinks he be better off dead.  I worried that if I told people, I'd enlarge the number of people who would never hire him.

So, it's hard and even awful to think of how life would be if people thought you were gay.

I think, though, that that is also a call to action.  It really is completely terrible that sexual preference could lead to such judgnebts,

        •  I didn't feel the misunderstanding (none)
was sad, bad, or embarassing...perhaps a bad choice of words.  I just thought it was odd that the sole determining factor was the "SF."

In regards to my rush to judgment, I guess the lesson learned was not to assume anything about anybody in an arena where anonymity is such a major factor of the interaction.

Best to you and your family.
