    I think it's because it's not sold over-the-counter, like condoms.  With condoms, no pharmacists are involved.

    But that raises a question: why should pharmacists be the only ones allowed to act on their "beliefs" in refusing contraception?  Shouldn't cashiers have the right to refuse to sell condoms too?

    The fundie position on this is ridiculous, but I'm not sure it's anti-woman.  Wouldn't surprise me, though.
