  •  You have a strong point.... (none)

I find that my sharpness and knowledge goes down the tube if I spend my time online with the TV news on in the background ...

(I'm one of those people who doesn't like complete silence, and I'm a news junkie to boot.)

I had to shake myself up recently.  What was I doing?  I was listening to too much MSNBC and CNN.  And I went back to listening to NPR and to BBC World News.

There's a world of difference in my level of awareness and knowledge.

    •  If there are riots... (4.00)
people watch them on TV. And the news, of course, tells everyone to stay home. Which they do anyway, because they're watching the riots on TV. Which makes them less real. Which also keeps people home.

If something goes horribly wrong, but the news comes on to talk about it, people stay home. No matter what the news is saying about it.
