Sorry, I misread the date-- you were talking about '03 numbers, not '05 numbers.  I hear she's got a ton of cash CURRENTLY.  She'll need it...
    •  No grassroots help for Bean (none)
She really will need it. She may need more from her buddy Emanuel as the only three IL reps to vote for the recent PATRIOT act in the house were Bean, Emanuel and Lipinski. Progressives are already pissed at Bean for supporting CAFTA.

Melissa Bean benefitted from backing of labor, progressives, and a groundswell of general anti-Bush activism in a presidential election year. She got big help from DFA and other ultra-progressive organizations that put feet on the street for more than a few months. I'd be hard-pressed to find any way that she'll get a tenth of those volunteers into the field in 2006.

She's not going to get the labor support she did before, but believe it or not, Democrats did manage to win races before the concept of $20/person over the Internet was hatched.
      •  IL-08 fundraising so far (none)
        Bean - $1.4M raised, $1.1M on hand
        Salvi - $313K raised, $291K on hand
        Bartels - $363K raised, $250K on hand
        McSweeney - $698K raised, $239K on hand

Bean's obviously running from the middle and hoping to really overtake anybody else though sheer money alone.
