    Politics is people owning each other favors.  Candidates who build grassroots bases are harder to whip when the latest corporate-written piss-on-the-(insert one or all: elderly, young, poor, uninsured, unemployed, union worker) bill comes down the pike.

    They want candidates beholden to big money and big business, because that's the turf they know.  The lobbyists and executives of these corporations are former colleagues/roommates/college buddies.  They spent years building up fundraising networks for which they want to be recognized.

    I say to you and everyone else who takes offense to practice - run your campaign saying your candidate won't be just another D.C. lapdog like the hand-picked DCCC candidate and that a Democratic lapdog ain't much better than Republican lapdog to the voters of the district.
