      Because in Athens (i.e. in antiquity), an idiot was a person who declined to take part in public life, such as democratic city government. Kennedy cannot be considered an idiot and does not deserve the name calling levied on him by Jerome. Kenedey's record and his contribution in public life speaks for itself and speaks volumes
      I cannot say the same thing about Jerome. I am not sure he can say that about himself. Or maybe I am mistake.

      Jerome please take heart, I did not call you an idiot in a derogatory term. It was meant to show that your logic was misguided. Period. And it is still misguided.

      A good example of the contempt the first democrats felt for those who did not participate in politics can be found in the modern word 'idiot' that finds its origins in the ancient Greek word ἰδιώτης (idiōtēs) meaning a private person, a person who is not actively interested in politics
