Actually, from what I understand, people don't mind how they look, but rather the noise.  I know there are some people in Fenner who aren't entirely happy with the turbines, but it's more because of the noise (hum, grinding), which carries, and not so much the look.

Also, I think that people who live near these turbines should get some sort of break on their electricity bill - whoever in the town permits land to be used for them, should try to make it go down with the neighbors as smoothly as possible.

The nice thing about the Fenner turbines is that hundreds of thousands of people see them each year.  They are visible from the New York State Thruway and are quite something to see looming in the distance.

I wasn't aware this was a problem.  They are pretty remote, with not much around them but a few farms.  I'm headed back to CNY for X-mas (oh, sorry Mr O'Reily, I mean Christmas) and I may, weather permitting (always a concern in CNY lol) take a drive out to hear them.  When I've seen them I've always been in a car, or at a nursery a mile or so away, and I've never noticed how much noise they make.

BTW, I know someone who owns land south of there (South of a little town called Munnesville), who was approached, several years ago, by a wind farm company that wanted to put some wind mills on his land.  When I spoke to him hee was dithering and, as far as I know, it went nowhere.  I'll have to ask him, if I see him while I'm home, what ever became of it.
