  •  they are saying that (4.00)
Bush is acting on his "plenary" power under the Constitution.  So they are reading in a broad, implied right of the executive.  (But they still don't see any right to privacy.) Where are the strict constructionists?

No American left behind - in civil rights, in health care, in the economy.

    •  and bush's job approval ratings are UP! (none)
he is up to 47% according to some poll.  wtf!  he says he is ignoring the law, and his numbers go UP instead of down?  what is wrong wi th people!
      •  I thought that might happen (none)
He had some pretty good lying points that he was able to repeat over and over. They didn't fly with me, but I knew they would for a number of his former followers. Also his minions claiming that they only spied against people who were talking with know AlQaeda members.

It's easier to believe what you want to believe. We need to get this type of info widely diseminated.

        •  the thing is that we will never know who they (4.00)
spied on.  they have no oversight, therefore they don't have to keep any sort of records.  no checks and balances.  and the fact that people aren't scared shitless by such a thing is beyond me!  the question should be why they don't want any oversight... why they don't want anyone making sure they are ONLY going after terrorists.  it's like sending enemy combatants to third parties....  it's like classifying them as enemy combatants so you can bypass the law.  it's not an isolated incident... there's YEARS of this crap going on....  sidestepping laws so you don't have to follow the laws.  that should be scary to any republican.
        •  And the Nazis only put Communists (4.00)
in the concentration camps in 1933.  Yeah, sure.
      •  nah (none)
That poll was taken before this story hit the public eye.   In fact I think it was taken before the story was even released in the Times but I might be wrong.

If the media keeps this story swirling, which with bipartisan anger I am thinking there's a very good chance of it staying around for a long time, just wait and watch that poll next time it gets released.   It might be a record drop in a specific poll.   I think that was an outlier anyway....I've not seen anything close to it and luckily no ohters seem to have been taken/released in that same window of bullshit so get ready to watch them back in the mid-upper 30's before long.

The shit has officially exploded on the fan.

        George W. Bush, Resign NOW.
