    Nothing more than that.
They consume wood pulp, cover it in ink, and distribute it in exchange for other pieces of paper. They are more interested in our pieces of paper than their own.

That said, somebody finally did the right thing and deserves credit.

    •  I find them sitting on what... (4.00)
may be the most egregious violation of executive power - that we know of so far - to be an unforgivable offense.

As the "paper of record" they have a responsibility to do the right thing and report the news as it happens, not as it serves their corporate needs.

Maybe I live in a fantasy land, but that is the way it should be.

      •  Now we know why (none)
they started charging for editorial content (putting guys like Krugman behind the fire wall).

        They need the money to:
        A. Cover their legal defense fund
        B. Make up for their lost subscriptions - which will come in handy right about now...

        •  And Also Perhaps (none)
Make sure the rabble-rousing potential of their editiorial content is somewhat limited. I've long held that much liberal thought is visible to placate "elite liberals," and is only visible in places "ordinary people" can't easily trip over it.

      •  Yeah, and no comics, either (none)
How long do they think they can get away treating their readers like this? Still, where else are we going to get decent book reviews?

On the bright side, a number of positions have recently become vacant at the Times. With all the shuffling of offices, maybe more gems like this will shake out from behind cabinets and desks.

      •  Political Actor (4.00)
It's become evident that the NYT is no longer the paper of record.  From Judy Miller's "reporting" of trumped up claims of WMD in the run-up to the war in Iraq to intentionally sitting on the wiretap program news until after the election, it is clear that the NYT is making overt political choices and using its influence to shape outcomes in the political process.

I don't know what's worse, having the newspapers become mere stenographers in increasingly "he said/she said" style of fact agnostic reporting or having outfits like the NYT intentionally suppresing stories.

I was going to post something exactly like this. Here's a 4 for you.

The NYT is done, as far as I'm concerned. Do people in New York actually believe anything in it anymore?

And didn't Ann Coulter say something about the world being better off if planes had struck the NYT? Was this because she knew they had this information?

          The revolution is ongoing.
