Yes, I want the House, but I don't want someone who demagogues about my people.  I will repeat what i said below.  We need to have some standards here.  I asked Kos if he would still support her if she supported a Constitutional Amendment to prevent Salvadorans from marrying. What about one that prevents Jews from marrying? Or any other group?  (Just put in some catwegoryt that fits you.)  I understand that it is a diverse country and people in different places believe differently.  I don't require everyone I support to agree with me on abortion, for example, or the environment.  But we need standards here, and a week or so ago I said my bottom line was no race baiting and no gay bashing.  This amendment is gay-bashing.   I don't ask candidates to be FOR gay marriage.  All I ask is that they clearly state that they do not support a constitutional amendment that explicitly singles out one group and explicitly not only denies them equal rights but denies the state legislatures the ability to give them equal rights.  If people like Herseth want to raise money on a national stage they have to acknowledge the diversity of this country.  That means a minimla standard of decency toward her fellow citizens.  If she wants to stand with Bush on this she can stand there without me.  I want Kos in future to state a candidate's position on this issue before he asks us to contribute.
