      Who said anything about "babes"? My point is that she's forced to deal with questions that aren't directed towards a married male politician, or even a married woman for that matter.

        I think every politician has to deal with the question of gay civil rights...and most Democrats are choosing to come out against the amendment even if they are against gay marriage.  Herseth's stance is really hardcore...more than need be.  The implication is, therfore, she's actually a bigot.  You can't get around that.  If she'd simply said I'm against gay marriage, but am against the Musgrave Amendment, that would have been a different story.  Didn't happen that way, though, and here own personal marital status has nothing to do with it.
