    Russell Hoban's Riddley Walker - it's not easy going at first, as it's written in something like transliterated Jamaican patois, but it's the one SF novel I've always wanted to make into a movie.

    The visual potential is just too great.

      but the English accent used in Kent. The novel is set in Kent (that's on the southeast tip of Britain, for those of you hazy on "Brit" geography)

      It's quite a good accent given that Hoban himself is from Pennsylvania.

        For me, the best thing would be to set it in some nameless place but people it with Rastafarians - the visuals alone would be great.

        'Course, there'd be the bit about getting them to show up on time.

        Hey, it's  my fantasy movie, I can take liberties if I want to!
