  •  Hitler was a vegetarian (none)
And Bush opposes abortion.  In both cases, the [would-be] Fuhrer takes a 'moral' stand above and beyond what the general public holds themselves to.  That 'moral' stand is on an issue that's not very important in the big scheme of things, or at least that's not very pertinent to the important political questions of the day.  Still, it gives the Fuhrer a pretense of taking the moral high ground.  That pretense is easily blurred from being on the 'high ground' on one irrelevant issue to being on the high ground on everything, at least in the minds of uncritical followers.  "He doesn't even eat meat, so he must be a moral authority [on everything]."

We're all pretty crazy some way or other; some of us just hide it better. "Normal" is just a setting on my dryer.

    •  Well and it keeps people "bizzy" (none)
while they do their real bidding.  I really don't think that most of those people give a god damn whether or not a black lady decides not to have another baby.  In fact, I think they'd be perfectly happy (based on quotes from the likes of Bill Bennett and others I have heard make similar statements privately) if no person of color ever had another child.  The abortion issue is a divisive tool that inflames such passion that it creates a way for the GOP to manipulate and maintain power.  The Neo-Cons can say, "We're going to make you really poor and hungry now because we can and want to."  The masses respond with, "No! No!  We will take you out of power."  The GOP responds with, "But what about the poor babies that will DIE if we don't stay in power?  Save the babies!  Starve and live in poverty like Jesus would for the babies."  And the masses respond by saying, "Okay.  Since you put it that way."

That folks is why all of these people vote against their own best interests.  That is the manipulation.
